Managing Difficult Situations and Conflict with Parents

Inservice Training Workshops for Headteachers, Senior Managers and Staff. Delivery by Leapwade or the school.

Course Summary

This half-day or one-day workshop is designed to help headteachers and teachers enhance their skills in dealing with parental concerns, complaints, criticism and aggression. It combines use of DVD situations with workbook activities, discussion, theoretical principles and trainer input.

Both primary and secondary materials used by NCSL for NPQH training

• realistic and enjoyable DVD scenarios show teachers handling a wide variety of difficult situations
• examples of good and bad practice illustrate the underlying principles and provide the basis for lively discussion
• individual and group workbook activities guide the analysis of behaviours and lead to the development of a skills model/framework for handling complaints and aggression
• morning session - complaint handling
• afternoon session - policies and procedures
• situations which have safety and/or legal implications
