  • To ensure lunchtime staff know which incidents should be reported and to whom, and which incidents they should deal with themselves

  • To ensure lunchtime staff do not create a problem or escalate conflict, by the way they deal with children

  • To enhance self-esteem and confidence

  • To improve relationships with children leading to greater mutual respect

  • To reduce the stress to themselves and to children, when conflict is not resolved
